What changes
- Each end time is derived from the next SYNC marker, because SAMI does not store one.
- Inline styling tags are removed and HTML entities are decoded to plain text.
Limits
- One language track per conversion; extra language classes are reported and dropped
- A final subtitle with no closing SYNC gets a disclosed two-second duration
- No audio sync, timing repair, translation, upload, or login
Frequently asked questions
Why does the end time come from the next block?
SAMI only records a start time for each SYNC block. The subtitle stays on screen until the next block, so that next start is the only honest end time.
What happens to a multi-language SAMI file?
SRT holds one track. The converter keeps the first language class it finds, then names every dropped class in the result so nothing disappears silently.
