Extract Subtitles from Video
Pull the embedded subtitle tracks out of an MP4, MOV, MKV or WebM file in your browser — every track listed with its language, one SRT download per track.
MP4/MOV/MKV/WebM up to 200 MB, processed locally. Text subtitle tracks (tx3g, Apple text, S_TEXT/UTF8, ASS/SSA) are extracted; bitmap tracks (PGS, VobSub) are not supported.
How it works
- Choose an MP4, MOV, MKV or WebM file — it never leaves your device.
- Review the detected tracks with their languages and cue counts.
- Download any track as SRT, or send it straight to the free translation preview.
Boundaries
- ASS/SSA styling and positioning are removed; text and timing are kept
- Bitmap subtitle formats (PGS, VobSub) are skipped, not OCR-ed
- No audio sync, timing repair, upload, or login
Subtitle extractor questions
Is my video uploaded?
No. The file is read locally in your browser; only the extracted subtitle text ever leaves the page, and only if you choose the translation preview.
Which subtitle formats are extracted?
MP4 tx3g and Apple timed-text tracks, plus MKV/WebM S_TEXT/UTF8, ASS and SSA text tracks. Bitmap tracks (PGS/VobSub) are not read by this version.
Why does the last subtitle get a two-second duration?
A track's final sample has no following sample to end it. The tool applies a disclosed two-second duration so the SRT stays valid.
Only embedded text tracks are read. Subtitles drawn into the picture are not stored as tracks and cannot be extracted — use the subtitle generator for those.
